Slieve League Donegal Walking Day Tour

Slieve League Donegal Walking Day Tour - Come Experience the most incredible sea cliff views you'll ever see!

Watch the actual walk footage from our Drone below on the tour. Tour includes free transport to and from Dublin for the walking tour.

Swooping down from the mountain of Slieve League, it’s a staggering 609m (1,998 feet) drop into the swirling Atlantic Ocean below - and almost three times as high as the Cliffs of Moher!

Our walk follows that as shown in our very own drone video above for your reference.

We depart the bus at the bottom of the carpark and walk to the summit which is Approx. 2-3km. The scenery all the way up is spectacular with views of the Atlantic and the Sligo Mountains out in the distance. You also have a great view overlooking Donegal Bay. As you reach the summit you are rewarded with the most beautiful sight of the walk - the cliff face of Bunglas (which simply means "End of Cliff"). See the ruins of a watchtower (as per video above) at the end of Carrigan Head on your journey up also. This watchtower was constructed to defend the northwest coast during the early 19th century when there was the threat of a Napoleonic attack.

The walk itself isn't long but it is a climb to the top , so proper foot wear is recommended and to bring plenty of refreshments. It takes approx 1.5 Hours to reach the top where you will get back on the bus.

At the base of the walk, there is a really nice food /café / craft shop called Ti Linn, with great local products and coffee. You will also find toilets here.

We then pass through a lovely village called Carrick, before reaching a small harbour village called Teelin. Teelin has a famous Pub called "The Rusty Mackerel" where we stop for a rest.
The name of the rusty mackerel came about because way back when there was no refrigeration, they would salt the mackerel in wooden barrels and this way they would keep for months on end without losing their freshness.
One of these barrels can be seen still standing outside the front of the pub!
