A Private Guinness Family History Tour - Come and join us on Arthur's Tale for a private tour by luxury minibus
Meet Arthur Guinness, your guide for the day and man behind the Blackstuff! Accompany him on his customed designed tour bus while he takes you back to his family's past. We all know and love a good Guinness.
But where did it all begin? Where did his family come from? Let Arthur tell the tales of these humble beginings on this beautiful scenic day tour.
We visit infamous Oughterard - The round tower and ancient monastery you will see was associated with a nunnery established around 605 AD. Follow Arthur, he has someone very special he would like you to meet in here! If you are fit and able, you might also like to climb the "hidden staircase" to hear the tales of Ponsonby House in the distance!
See where the legacy began and eat at The Mucky Duck. Not only was Arthur Guinness born and raised in this very spot, there is ample evidence to suggest that the first ever pint of the black stuff was brewed right here. It was here that in 1725, Richard and his wife Catherine welcomed young Arthur Guinness into the world. Follow Arthur into his house for the most authentic Irish Pub Experience this side of the country! Make sure you keep your camera on hand.
After lunch, we make a stop at Leixlip Castle to visit one of his living offspring estates – the home of Desmond Guinness, and the man who helps keep the name alive in the town today!
As we make our way back into Dublin, Arthur will explain how he and his decendants changed this city for ever. St Stephens Green, The Iveagh Trust, Beaumont and St James' Gate would not be where they are if it wasnt for him. We finish at the Guinness Hop Stores at approx 4pm
Please note that entry to the hop stores is not included. For those of you who don't want to end here, or already have been to the hop stores, join Arthur for a farewell drink and celebration at the Church Bar - where he just so happened to have got married in 1761!
